Phase 2 – Unite (Weeks 3 & 4)

Participants unite ideas and people to form the leadership framework, innovative market solutions and a business model to achieve the co-created mission.

Objectives:

  • Understand the criteria for selecting the nature of the business venture, potential mechanisms for funding business ideas and product pitching
  • Establish the details of the student company using the business model canvas and clearly define the proposed value proposition
  • Revisit the concept of leadership and define roles
  • Finalize the mission and establish the organizational structure
  • Establish the department functions and individual responsibilities to the team

Phase 3 – Build (Week 5)

Building a new business requires a strong foundation based on planning, strategy and communication.

Objectives:

  • Create an accountability framework and department work plans
  • Develop and establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and department work plans
  • Quantify start-up capital needs, resources, and break-even point
  • Create the Lean Business Plan (if applicable)

Entrepreneurial Resiliency Modules

As an organization committed to student success, JA is pleased to introduce an integral addition to Company Program curriculum. New for 2023 is a supplementary mental health curriculum thoughtfully designed to empower students with the skills they need to manage stress, embrace change, and build entrepreneurial resilience. We believe that by providing a safe space to equip our students with skills to build resilience, and foster a community of empathy and support, we are nurturing the seeds of lifelong success.

Supported by Zzurich Foundation, in collaboration with Mental Health Advisory Partners (The Hospital for Sick Children, School Mental Health Ontario, Kids Help Phone, Mental Health Commission of Canada, JA Youth Advisors, Unearthed Education), JA developed Advisor and Student resources to build Entrepreneurial Resilience through their JA Company Program experience.
